Blogging 101: Get Followers and Money

Blogging is a great way for you to raise your profile and get you or your business noticed. A successful blog will attract more and more followers of people with similar interests or needs. It is a great way of keeping your followers up to date with the latest news or events while at the same time keeping them interested in what you have to offer.

One of the most important things to bear in mind when maintaining a blog is to keep it on topic. If your blog is about computers, for example, then if you start talking about pets you might lose a few followers. Remember why your followers are following you and aim to please them rather than just talking what you want to talk about. It may sound obvious, but a large number of people seem to forget the purpose of their blog and start talking about unrelated topics. Just keep within the topic that your blog is about and you should retain the interest of your followers.

When you are writing for your blog it is important to remember not to bore them. Try not to be overly technical where possible and keep it as casual as you can without being unprofessional. In a blog, you can almost speak to your followers as though they are sat with you, as opposed to writing just down information for them to use as they would a text Try to keep it witty and humorous where possible but without becoming ridiculous. This can help your readers to relate to you and listen closer to what you have to say.

Keep your blog up to date but don’t overdo it. If you blog about every minor event that happens then your followers will begin to tire of your blog and lose interest. Instead, just stick to important events or updates that your followers will definitely be interested in. Also, be sure that you don’t make each update to long. About 500 words should be plenty as not everybody will wish to read much more than that. Just keep it short and to the point without rambling or giving long lectures.

Give something of value where possible. Giving away something that is of value is a great way to build trust, encouraging your followers to continue following your blog and be more responsive in the future. By something of value I don’t necessarily mean something of monetary value but important hints, tips and trade secrets that the reader will find useful. If you continue to give value to your followers then they are much more likely to listen to you in the future when you most want them to.

Monetize your blog. Add ClickBank leaks and banner ads that give you the opportunity to make some revenue from your blog. If your blog is used in conjunction with your business then make sure your readers know about your business. Don’t push it too much but don’t be too afraid of making something for yourself. And use SEO wisely to direct as much traffic to your business website as possible.

2) Be the Industry Expert – Blogging allows you to create new content on your industry. Prospects are researching products and services more and more before they buy. Make yourself an expert in your field by providing your prospects with articles and facts that give them a reason to buy from you instead of the competition.

3) Consumers Want to Learn, Not Be Sold – Lets face it… nobody cares about your products. They want to solve a problem or fulfill a need or want. When prospects are searching online, provide them with the information that they are looking for in your industry and move them closer to the sale. This will also build trust with your company.

4) Keep Yourself up to Date – We are all guilty of being a little lazy sometimes, and as much as an expert you think you are in your field, there’s always more to learn. Consistently blogging will force you to keep yourself up to date with new products, technology, updates, industry news, needs of prospects etc. It will keep you learning and on your toes.

5) Go Viral – People love sharing new and interesting things that they find, especially in their niche. If the new article, story, list is compelling enough, people will share it with their circle. All this leads back to you and your website, and new exposure to fans and followers that might not have known you existed before.

6) Connect With Your Prospects – Relationship selling. If you are not blogging does a prospect have any reason to keep coming back for more? Create an ongoing relationship with your prospects with new and interesting content. Speak to them consistently so you are on their mind when they are ready to buy.
