Gnome Alone screenwriter Michael Schwartz is turning to comics for his next project. Dubbed Armored, this new limited series follows an orphan hero who stumbles across a haunted suit of armor.
With Armored now crowdfunding on Kickstarter, IGN can exclusively debut a new preview of the graphic novel. Check it out in the slideshow gallery below:
The creative team for Armored also includes artist Ismael Hernandez, letterer Ferran Delgado and editor Chris Stevens. The series also features an all-star lineup of cover artists that includes Jae Lee, Nick Pitarra, Chrissie Zullo, Scott Kolins, Matthew Therrien and Jeff Dickson.
Armored tells the story of Andy, an orphan adopted by a family who are still mourning the loss of their biological son. When Andy is attacked by the same supernatural beast that killed his adoptive brother, he finds unlikely aid in the form of a haunted suit of armor. With the help of the suit’s ghostly owner, Sir William, Andy will get to the bottom of the terrifying threat plaguing his family.
“A few years ago, my entire comic book collection was stolen,” said Schwartz in a statement. “After that I started to re-collect and revisit the thousands of books I loved — from Silver Age classics to modern era epics — and realized the potential comic books offered me for telling this ambitious and personal tale. Working with Clover has been a real pleasure as they truly understood the scope of the story and how Ismael Hernandez and I wanted this narrative to unfold for the reader.”

In other comic book news, Batman ’89 is getting a sequel featuring the Burtonverse versions of Scarecrow and Harley Quinn, and Star Wars: Visions is making the jump to comics.
