Rick and Morty Season 7 Gets Official Premiere Date

We officially have a premiere date for Rick and Morty Season 7: Sunday, Oct. 15 at 11 p.m. ET/PT, Adult Swim announced today.

The network also confirmed that the upcoming season will consist of 10 episodes, in line with previous Rick and Morty installments.

Last week, we learned that the latest season of Rick and Morty would be releasing in the fall, along with a new teaser that focused on the feud between Rick C-137 and Rick Prime.

While we now know the exact date Rick and Morty Season 7 will be debuting, there’s one thing that today’s announcement didn’t reveal: who will be taking over the voice roles of Rick Sanchez and Morty Smith amid co-creator Justin Roiland’s exit. In January, Adult Swim announced it was cutting ties with Roiland following the news that he had been charged with domestic violence (charges which have since been dropped), but that it would still continue with Rick and Morty regardless, as the show had already been renewed through Season 10.

While Roiland had little creative involvement in Rick and Morty in recent seasons, the question of who would replace him in the voice cast has been a prominent one. At last month’s San Diego Comic-Con, producer Steve Levy gave us the most significant update yet on the situation, revealing that they were “closing in” on soundalike replacements for the cast. Today’s Adult Swim announcement included the cheeky note that “Rick and Morty are back and sounding more like themselves than ever!”

Adult Swim and the crew behind Rick and Morty have also stayed firm in their confidence in the series despite the turmoil surrounding Roiland. In a recent interview with LA Times, Levy doubled down that Season 7 may be “even better” following Roiland’s departure, and in today’s press release, Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen asserted that “this season proves that the geniuses at work on Rick and Morty are just getting started.”
