Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’ First Two Episodes Will Air on CBS for Star Trek Day 2023

Star Trek Day 2023 will officially take place on September 8, 2023, and it will see the first two episodes of Star Trek: A Strange New Worlds airing on CBS, a special Star Trek program hosted by Jerry O’Connell, free screenings of Star Trek: Lower Decks in theaters, and much more.

September 8, 1966, was the historic day that Star Trek: The Original Series first debuted on television with “The Man Trap.” 57 years later, we are still celebrating that moment and the franchise’s ever-expanding universe that all started in the mind of Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry.

The Star Trek Day festivities will begin with the Star Trek Day Special Program that is hosted by O’Connell, who plays Commander Jack Ransom on Star Trek: Lower Decks. As for what the program will contain, Paramount and CBS have given a small tease;

“A salute to the franchise, the special program will include segments that look back at memorable moments over the past 57 years; commemorate 50 years of STAR TREK animation; pay tribute to STAR TREK: DISCOVERY, ahead of its final season; provide an exclusive sneak-peek clip from the upcoming fourth season of STAR TREK: LOWER DECKS; and commemorate many other moments that highlight STAR TREK’s legacy.”

Fans will be able to watch the Star Trek Day Special Program for free on StarTrek.com/Day, YouTube, Twitch, and Facebook. It will also be available on Paramount+ and certain local CBS affiliates, Comedy Central, Paramount Network. Pop TV, Fave TV, and Smithsonian.com.

As for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, the first two episodes of the series – Episode 101: “Strange New Worlds” and Episode 102: “Children of the Comet” – will air on CBS Television Network on September 8 at 8pm ET/PT.

If that isn’t enough Star Trek for you, this year is also celebrating the 50th anniversary of Star Trek: The Animated Series. To honor that milestone, Star Trek Day will be presenting an “evening of cartoon comedy, including four specially selected episodes of the hit animated series Star Trek: Lower Decks.”

The screenings are free and will take place in Columbus, Dallas, Denver, Phoenix, San Diego, St. Louis, Washington D.C., Vancouver, Calgary, and London. Those interested can register on Thursday, August 24, at 9am PT/12pm ET right here.

Lastly, fans will be able to use the code STARTREKDAY on shop.StarTrek.com to get 25% off everything at the official Star Trek store. There will also be curated Star Trek Day and Star Trek: The Animated Series collections.
