LG Evo C3 4K OLED TV

The LG Evo C3 4K OLED TV is the successor to the extremely popular and highly rated LG Evo C2. In terms of image quality, the two are largely identical with the new Evo C3 being a bit brighter. The new Evo C3, however, does have support for DTS audio, which is good for people who have Blu-ray discs. The C2 and most older models did not have this support, and you would have to use a separate AV receiver to handle the decoding. Like the C2, the LG Evo C3 uses a composite fiber for its rear cabinet housing that drops the weight to a mere 36 pounds without the stand. The LG C1 weighed 59 pounds!

If money isn’t an object, OLED TVs are considered the best TVs you can buy right now. Of all the OLED TV manufacturers, the LG is considered by many to be the best. LG OLED TVs benefit from several generations of optimizations. The first LG OLED TV (a 55″ model) was released back in 2010, well before other manufacturers introduced their own consumer-ready TVs to the market. Fast forward over a decade later, and the world has pretty much unanimously agreed that right now, OLED technology can’t be beat. Compared to traditional LED LCD TVs, they offer better image quality, deeper blacks, better contrast ratio, wider color gamut, and super fast response times. Because of these advantages, OLED TVs are the best at displaying HDR content in all of its glory.

OLED technology aside, the LG C3 has all the features you’d want in a gaming TV as well. It has a true 120Hz panel and four HDMI 2.1 ports for running 4K at 120Hz on a PS5, Xbox Series X, or RTX 30 series equipped PC. It also supports variable refresh rate (VRR), which is this TV’s version of adaptive sync technology, as well as auto low latency mode (ALLM), which means that the TV automatically switches to a lower latency during gameplay. The LG C3 is also HGiG compatible. HGiG matches your gaming console with your exact TV model and applies optimized HDR settings for games that support it.

Should you get an LG C3 or LG C2?

The LG C3’s biggest competition is the LG C2. Visually, the two are near identical. The LG C2 currently costs about $300 less so it’s up to you whether or not the very slight image quality improvements and the addition of DTS audio support is worth it.
